CBC and sedimentation rate in Tangier

CBC and ESR: basic blood tests

The Blood Count (CBC) and the Sedimentation Rate (ESR) are the two blood tests most frequently prescribed by doctors. At the Tangier International Laboratory, we carry them out with results available in just 2 hours.

The NFS: a photograph of your blood

The CBC counts and analyzes the three types of blood cells:

  • Red blood cells (erythrocytes) and hemoglobin: carry oxygen. A drop indicates anemia.
  • White blood cells (leukocytes): immune defenses. An increase may signal an infection.
  • Platelets (thrombocytes): involved in coagulation. An abnormal level requires investigation.

ESR: a marker of inflammation

ESR measures how quickly your red blood cells settle into a tube. An elevated ESR is a nonspecific warning sign indicating inflammation, infection, or sometimes an autoimmune disease.

When are these tests prescribed?

  • Routine health check-up
  • Fatigue, paleness, shortness of breath (suspected anemia)
  • Fever or infection
  • Monitoring a chronic disease
  • Pre-operative assessment

No fasting necessary

Good news: NFS and VS do not require fasting. You can show up at any time of the day.
