The female hormonal assessment: understanding your hormones
The female hormone test is a set of blood tests that measures the main hormones involved in the menstrual cycle and fertility. At the Tangier International Laboratory, we carry out these dosages with the greatest precision.
What hormones are measured?
- FSH (Follicle Stimulating Hormone): stimulates the growth of ovarian follicles
- LH (Luteinizing Hormone): triggers ovulation
- Estradiol (E2): main female hormone, produced by the ovaries
- Progesterone: prepares the uterus for implantation
- AMH (Anti-Müllerian Hormone): reflects ovarian reserve
- Prolactin: can disrupt the cycle if too high
When to carry out the assessment?
The timing of collection is crucial:
- FSH, LH, Estradiol: between the 2nd and 5th day of the cycle
- Progesterone: on the 21st day of the cycle (luteal phase)
- AMH, Prolactin: at any time of the cycle
Why do a hormonal assessment?
This assessment is prescribed in the event of:
- Difficulty conceiving (infertility)
