The blood test: a simple and essential gesture
The blood test is the most common medical procedure in medical biology. At the Tangier International Laboratory, our experienced samplers take hundreds of samples every day in the best conditions of comfort and hygiene.
How to prepare for a blood test?
The preparation depends on the type of analysis prescribed:
- Fasting blood sugar: 8 to 12 hours of fasting (water allowed)
- Lipid assessment: 12 hours of fasting recommended
- NFS, serologies, hormones: no fasting necessary in general
- Thyroid assessment: sampling possible at any time
Practical advice
Remember to hydrate well the day before the sample (water is always allowed even on an empty stomach). Bring your prescription and ID card. If you are taking medication, tell the phlebotomist.
What analyzes can be carried out with a blood test?
Our laboratory offers more than 200 types of analyses from a simple blood sample:
- Biochemistry: blood sugar, lipid profile, liver test, renal test
- Hematology: CBC, ESR, coagulation assessment
- Serology: hepatitis, HIV, toxoplasmosis, rubella
- Hormonology: thyroid, female hormones, Beta-HCG
- PCR: hepatitis B/C, HPV, COVID-19
Result deadlines
Most of our results are available in less than 24 hours. Routine tests (CBC, blood sugar) can be ready in 2 to 4 hours. Specialized analyzes (PCR, cultures) require 2 to 5 days.
